With changes and updates starting to take shape, Brannan Cottage Inn will always be committed to celebrating our rich historic lineage. Built by California’s first millionaire Sam Brannan in 1862 as part of his hot springs resort which put Calistoga on the map, this is the only resort cottage still on its original site. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Brannan Cottage Inn is among the most significant landmarks in all of Napa Valley.
New Year, New Chapter for Brannan Cottage Inn
2019 started off with a bang here at BCI as we’re officially under new ownership. Carl Dene and wife Heather purchased the property and officially took the reins in early January. While it’s only been a short time, the Denes have already gotten the wheels turning on a variety of updates and improvements, while remaining true to the rich historical value that Brannan Cottage Inn brings to our community and world-class destination of Calistoga.
Meet Our New Owners
The Denes – especially Carl – fell in love with not only the Inn itself, but with Calistoga’s colorful visionary founder Sam Brannan, and the unique culture of this. Just like Sam himself, Carl doesn’t do things halfway. His big, fresh ideas to make the Inn a singular destination for travelers, and also a place for the community to gather. Once you have a chance to come in and meet Carl for yourself, you will immediately recognize that he is just the right person to lead the way for the future of Brannan Cottage Inn. We are beyond excited to see his big vision for the property come to life.
Coming Soon: The Sam Brannan General Store
With the addition of a General Store, we will support our community by carrying local goods and products including exclusive items available nowhere else. We’re excited that the general store will invite locals to enjoy spending time on the property along with our guests to share good times and Sam stories!
An Updated Look and Feel
Keep an eye out for some crisp new paint colors, a reimagined lounge space in the parlor, new outdoor seating areas, and fun, thoughtful personalized touches throughout. Carl’s background in design and hospitality are evident in all his aesthetic choices, and providing guests with a top-notch experience is just the beginning.
Still Here: That Warm, Welcoming Guest Experience
Not to say that legendary personalized experiences are going anywhere. Quite the opposite; they’re only getting better. We are also excited to announce that Eden Umble is back as our Hospitality and Marketing Director. Eden is our resident Calistoga expert and passionate BCI veteran who loves creating the perfect itineraries for our guests based on their specific interests and taste.
She can give insider recommendations on where to eat, taste wine, take a hike, enjoy a bike ride, learn quirky tidbits about Calistoga, see some beautiful local artwork… the list goes on. She is also here to assure that your stay is as comfortable as possible, whether that means special requests, turn-down service, flowers & chocolates in your room, or anything else that might take your BCI getaway to the next level.
